Dr. Suraj Bahirwani is the President & Global Sales Head (Pulp & Fibre Business), Aditya Birla Group. Dr. Bahirwani joined Aditya Birla Group Leadership Program in 2002 after completing his Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from S P Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai. In his 20-year tenure with the Aditya Birla Group, he has traversed many diverse roles, starting out as an Executive Assistant to the Group Chairman, Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla. This was followed by stints in both the Supermarket and Hypermarket formats at Aditya Birla Retail Limited, then a stint as the COO of Pantaloons, Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail Limited, before taking up the current role of Global Sales Head of the Pulp & Fibre business.
Dr. Bahirwani completed his Ph.D. in Business Policy & Administration from the University of Mumbai. He is also a Chartered Accountant.
Deep rooted in Values, Dr. Bahirwani has demonstrated exceptional performance in all the roles he has essayed till date. His deep understanding of the retail business and its consumers, high intensity operational rigor and team engagement have contributed immensely to the operating parameters of the business. His ability to manage diverse roles has made him equally successful in his current responsibility of managing a large, complex, global sales and marketing function in a highly competitive environment at the Pulp & Fibre business.
Dr. Bahirwani is a proud recipient of many awards including the Chairman’s Award for Distinguished Achiever in 2009 and Exceptional Contributor in 2015. He was also awarded Aditya Birla Group’s Value Leader Award in 2014. In the year 2015, Business Today featured him as the hottest young executive under 40. He was also recognized by Asia One among 40 most influential Indians under 40 in 2017. Further, Economic Times has featured Dr. Bahirwani in their prestigious list of 'ET 40 Under Forty' hottest leaders for the year 2018. Most recently, in December’22, Dr. Bahirwani was awarded the Chairman’s Award for Accomplished Leader.
